Abstract

The Quantel Medical Vitra 2 is a 532nm frequency-doubled Nd:YAG photocoagulation laser (up to 1500mW) for retinal treatments, offering both SingleSpot (100-200ms) and MultiSpot pattern scanning (10-20ms) modes, compatible with various slit lamps and Quantel YAG/SLT systems for combined anterior/posterior segment treatment platforms.

Primary Application: Retinal photocoagulation for treating retinal pathologies including:

  • Focal laser photocoagulation (leaking blood vessel sealing)

  • Peripheral retinal treatments

  • Diabetic retinopathy

  • Age-related macular degeneration treatments

Treatment Modes:

  • SingleSpot Mode: Conventional thermal retina treatments using long pulse durations (100-200ms) with 4 customizable shooting modes:

    • Single Mode

    • Repeat Mode

    • Painting Mode

    • Continuous Mode

  • MultiSpot Pattern Scanning Mode: Uses shorter pulse durations (10-20ms) for faster treatment delivery, better tolerated by patients, with various pattern options (square, circle, triple arcs)

Technical Specifications

  • Laser Type: Frequency-doubled Nd:YAG

  • Wavelength: 532 nm (green)

  • Maximum Power: 1500 mW at tissue

  • Pulse Duration: 10 ms to continuous

  • Spot Size Range:

    • SingleSpot: 50 µm to 500 µm

    • MultiSpot: 50 µm to 400 µm (continuously variable)

  • Design Features: New generation laser cavity with increased power, large touchscreen interface, compact "space-saving" design

Can Be Combined With

The Vitra 2 is designed to be highly versatile and can be combined with:

  1. Slit Lamps:

    • Haag Streit type slit lamps

    • Zeiss type slit lamps (30 SL, 120 SL, 130 SL and clones)

    • Quantel Medical slit lamps

  2. Quantel Medical YAG/SLT Lasers:

    • Optimis Fusion (YAG/SLT laser) - creates a 3-in-1 platform (YAG, SLT, and photocoagulation)

    • Optimis II (YAG laser)

    • CAPSULO (YAG laser for capsulotomy/iridotomy)

  3. Other Delivery Systems:

    • Operating microscopes

    • Laser indirect ophthalmoscopes (LIO)

    • Laser probes

The system is upgradeable between SingleSpot and MultiSpot modes, and features clinically-oriented software with printable treatment reports.
