TrackSight - NovaSight

Abstract

TrackSight is a software-only solution for myopia prevention and vision health monitoring, developed by NovaSight. It uses the webcam of a screen device for AI-based eye tracking. While the child uses the screen, the periphery of the image is degraded in real time and the area around the gaze point stays clear. TrackSight is a development-stage product, and NovaSight's website states that it is not approved for sale in any country.

Core Technology Specifications

Platform: Software as a service (SaaS), no dedicated hardware

Eye Tracking: AI-based gaze tracking using the embedded webcam of the device

Compatible Devices: Computer monitors, laptops, tablets and smartphones with an integrated camera

Mechanism: Real-time peripheral image contrast degradation according to the momentary gaze position, with a clear central area

Modules: TrackSight Wellness and TrackSight Education

Target Users: Pre-myopic and myopic children

Regulatory Status: Not approved for sale in any country (NovaSight website, 2025)

Physiological Principle: Peripheral Retinal Signals and Myopia

Myopia develops when the eye grows too long, increasing axial length. Myopia control lenses work by changing the image on the peripheral retina while keeping central vision clear, which is thought to slow axial elongation. These lenses have a fixed optical design, so the clear central zone is fixed too, and the wearer sees the periphery through the treatment area when the eye moves.

TrackSight applies a similar idea on the screen and makes it dynamic. Because the eye tracker follows the gaze, the clear area moves with the eye. NovaSight hypothesizes that this allows a smaller clear central area, and so a larger treatment zone, than static lenses, without affecting on-axis acuity.

How the System Works

  • Gaze tracking: The webcam images the child's eyes, and an AI algorithm calculates the gaze position in real time
  • Peripheral degradation: The area around the gaze point is kept clear. The rest of the screen is degraded in contrast
  • Dynamic compensation: The effect follows each eye movement, and the blur is designed to be unnoticeable to the user
  • Background module: The software runs in the background of the device, similar to an accessibility mode, so the child can use normal content
  • Monitoring: The system continuously tracks eye movement performance to detect eye fatigue and other vision health risk factors

Modules

  • TrackSight Wellness: Myopia prevention through peripheral blur, eye fatigue and dry-eye monitoring, and eye teaming assessment
  • TrackSight Education: Tools for parents, teachers and school nurses to assess a child's visual acuity while using screens, and to evaluate reading performance against age norms using objective eye tracking

Clinical Evidence

  • Design: NovaSight reported a feasibility clinical trial in which participants watched a 30-minute movie with and without TrackSight
  • Result: Treatment led to a statistically significant transient, short-term reduction in axial length, a key biomarker for myopia prevention
  • Interpretation: This is an early, short-term biomarker result from the company. It does not show long-term control of myopia progression, and no pivotal trial results were found

Intended Use Scenarios

  • Prevention or delay of myopia onset in pre-myopic children
  • Combination therapy alongside other myopia control solutions after myopia has developed
  • Vision health and eye fatigue monitoring during screen use
  • Reading performance screening in schools

Who Can Use It

Once available, it is intended for children under the supervision of eye care professionals. Ophthalmologists, optometrists and orthoptists working in myopia management would be the likely prescribers, and parents, teachers and school nurses would use the education module.

Strengths and Limits

Strengths: No extra hardware, runs on common devices, can be combined with other myopia control, and adds eye movement monitoring.

Limits: It only acts while the child uses the screen, and it relies on the webcam tracking the eyes well. Evidence is limited to early feasibility data, and there is no regulatory approval yet.

Limitations of Available Specifications

Note: The sources reviewed date from 2024 to 2025. The tracking accuracy and frame rate, the degree and shape of the peripheral blur, the minimum webcam requirements, the supported operating systems, the daily use recommendations and any long-term trial results were not available. TrackSight's regulatory and commercial status may have changed since then, so please confirm with NovaSight before publishing. This content supports clinical judgement and does not replace it.
