Core Technology:

Built on ZEISS optics, the CLARUS 700 utilizes advanced LED illumination technology with red LED (585-840 nm wavelength), green LED (500-585 nm), and blue LED (435-500 nm) to provide natural-looking fundus photographs as they appear through direct observation. The platform provides color-accurate image analyses in high resolution with an accuracy of up to 7.3 µm.

Key Technical Features:

Ultra-Widefield Imaging:

  • Field of View: Captures ultra-widefield images providing comprehensive retinal visualization

  • Resolution: High-resolution imaging down to 7.3 microns for detailed assessment

  • True Color: Natural color representation matching direct clinical observation

  • Image Processing: Lash and lid artifacts are removed via algorithmic adjustment, providing cleaner images for assessment

Multiple Imaging Modalities:

  • Color Fundus Photography: True-color fundus images with natural appearance

  • Fundus Autofluorescence (FAF): Both FAF blue and FAF green imaging capabilities

  • Infrared (IR) Imaging: Enhanced visualization of deeper retinal structures

  • External Photography: Anterior segment and external eye documentation

  • Stereo Imaging: Three-dimensional assessment capabilities

Clinical Applications:

Diabetic Retinopathy Assessment: Ultra-widefield fluorescein angiography is particularly useful for identifying diabetic retinopathy, especially visualizing the peripheral retina which is fundamental to assess nonperfused areas, vascular leakage, microvascular abnormalities, and neovascularizations. With ultra-widefield imaging and high-resolution FA, the smallest details from optic nerve head to the periphery can be captured in early phases.

Comprehensive Retinal Evaluation: The system enables doctors to detect even the smallest changes during disease progression, making it valuable for monitoring various retinal pathologies including:

  • Retinal vascular diseases

  • Macular pathologies

  • Optic nerve disorders

  • Peripheral retinal abnormalities

  • Retinal degenerations

Advanced Features:

  • Multimodal Imaging: Integration of multiple imaging modalities in a single platform

  • High-Resolution Fluorescein Angiography: Detailed vascular assessment capabilities

  • Algorithmic Enhancement: Automated image processing for optimal image quality

  • Comprehensive Documentation: Complete retinal assessment from central to peripheral regions

The ZEISS CLARUS 700 represents a significant advancement in retinal imaging technology, combining ultra-widefield capabilities with true-color accuracy and multiple imaging modalities, making it an essential tool for comprehensive retinal assessment and disease monitoring in modern ophthalmology practice
