The Optovue Solix FullRange optical coherence tomography system from Visionix, designed to improve diagnostic accuracy and efficiency for a comprehensive analysis of anterior and posterior ocular structures.

Core Technology:

Optovue Solix is a new technology built upon a proven foundation of high-speed Spectral Domain OCT. With 120kHz scan speed, higher scan density, and better precision this FullRange OCT delivers unparalleled data and efficiency. The system utilizes coherent near-infrared light to obtain micrometer-level depth resolved images of biological tissue.

Key Technical Features:

Scanning Capabilities:

  • Ultra-High Speed: The Solix OCT scans at an ultra-high speed of 120kHz

  • FullRange Anterior: FullRange Anterior 18 x 6.25mm scans

  • High-Density Patterns: new posterior high-density scan patterns for more detail and better precision

Imaging Range: The system provides comprehensive ocular imaging capabilities. Research studies have demonstrated its versatility, with 12 mm × 12 mm, 6.4 mm × 6.4 mm, 6 mm × 6 mm and 3 mm × 3 mm OCT and OCTA scans capabilities.

Integrated Imaging Systems: integrated cameras for fundus, external photography, and external IR imaging provide multimodal imaging capabilities in a single platform.

Anatomical Structures Explored:

Posterior Segment Analysis:

Retinal Layers: Its ability to image the various retinal layers and localize associated pathologic processes makes OCT an indispensable tool in the current clinical practice of ophthalmology. The system can visualize individual retinal layers including:

  • Nerve fiber layer (for glaucoma assessment)

  • Ganglion cell complex

  • Inner and outer retinal layers

  • Retinal pigment epithelium (RPE)

  • Choroidal structures

Macula and Optic Nerve: The New advanced High-density (HD) retina scan patterns for maximum resolution allow detailed examination of:

  • Macular thickness and volume

  • Optic nerve head topography

  • Peripapillary nerve fiber layer thickness

Vascular Analysis: With 6.4 mm × 6.4 mm, 6 mm × 6 mm and 3 mm × 3 mm OCT and OCTA scans, the system provides optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) capabilities to visualize:

  • Retinal capillary networks

  • Choroidal vasculature

  • Areas of vascular compromise or neovascularization

Anterior Segment Analysis:

Comprehensive Anterior Imaging: The FullRange Anterior 18 x 6.25mm scans enable detailed visualization of:

  • Corneal thickness and topography

  • Anterior chamber depth and angle

  • Iris structure

  • Lens positioning and thickness

  • Anterior vitreous

Clinical Applications:

Disease-Specific Monitoring: Both devices feature company-designed software, coined "iWellness" and "AngioWellness," that can be used to assess and monitor patients with diabetes or glaucoma suspects. This allows for:

  • Diabetic retinopathy screening and monitoring

  • Glaucoma progression analysis

  • Macular degeneration assessment

  • Retinal vascular disease evaluation

The SOLIX OCT's comprehensive analysis of anterior and posterior ocular structures makes it a versatile diagnostic tool capable of examining virtually all optically transparent structures of the eye, from the cornea to the choroid, providing clinicians with detailed cross-sectional and volumetric data for precise diagnosis and monitoring of various ocular conditions.

Advanced Features:

  • Multi-Map Display: Pick up to six different maps to view at once

  • Enhanced Resolution: New advanced High-density (HD) retina scan patterns for maximum resolution and post-processing alignment

The SOLIX OCT represents a significant advancement in spectral domain OCT technology, combining ultra-high-speed scanning with comprehensive anterior and posterior segment imaging capabilities, making it a versatile diagnostic tool for comprehensive ophthalmic evaluation.
